It's cold, it's raining, but there's still jobs to be had in the garden...

February is usually the coldest and wettest month of the year, and Feb 2016 is no different except for the added winds we've had howling through the last couple of weeks.
So although it looks bleak out there in the garden there are still loads of things you should be doing now in order to have a fabulous-looking garden come spring time.
The bulbs are out already which is a sure sign that spring shouldn't be too far away, so it's time to get your wellies out and get some of these jobs ticked off your list.
* Cut back your shrubs and climbers such as Wisteria, Jasmine and Buddleia.
* Evergreen hedges that you might have will need a trim, while overgrown deciduous hedges can be renovated now.
* It's also time to get your fruit trees pruned back before they wake up in a few weeks. If you have any winter-flowering shrubs that are done flowering then they need pruning back as well.
* As long as it's not too waterlogged you need to think about getting your veg seed beds weeded and some good compost dug in.
